
Students and staff were alerted about someone carrying a gun on the University of Houston central campus only to learn that the person was not carrying a gun, but an inventory scanning device.
The Univ. of Houston emergency operations center issued the following campus emergency alert at 12:04 p.m. Tuesday:
Report of a Asian male//white T-shirt/blue jeans/small hand gun//in the area of PHILIP G HOFFMAN HALL//AVOID AREA
The emergency alert all clear was issued at 12:30 p.m. with the following message:
Cancel the Emergency Alert. The suspect was identefied [sic] and there was no gun.
A spokeswoman for UH told FOX 26 News that no buildings were placed on lockdown when the emergency operations center issued the campus alert.
