Rockets in talks with guard Aaron Brooks

Posted: Updated:

FOX 26 Sports has learned the Houston Rockets are in talks with free agent guard Aaron Brooks.

Sacramento bought out his contract on Friday and he officially cleared waivers on Monday.

If Brooks signs with the Rockets he would be returning to the team that took him in the first round of the 2007 NBA Draft.

He had his best year in the NBA with Houston during the 2009-2010 season when he averaged 19.6 points and 5.3 assists.

The Rockets traded Brooks to the Phoenix Suns in 2011.

After playing in China during and after the lockout he signed as a free agent with the Kings on July 16, 2012.

This season with the Kings Brooks averaged 8 points and 2.3 assists, while playing about 20 minutes a game.

Players bought out by March 1 are eligible for postseason play after signing with another team.

The Rockets will have to clear a roster spot for Brooks if he signs with Houston.
