LA PORTE, Texas (FOX 26) -

One person is injured following a chemical facility explosion and fire in the La Porte/Deer Park area.

Multiple fire departments responded to the fire at the Akzo Nobel Chemicals Inc. facility on Independence Parkway after 1 p.m. Monday.

A spokesperson for Akzo Nobel said that a "level 3 plant explosion" caused the fire.
