A person with knowledge of the situation confirms the Houston Rockets have expressed interest in signing guard Aaron Brooks, who was bought out by the Sacramento Kings.
Brooks still has to clear waivers before he is eligible to sign with another team.
The waiver period is 48 hours.
The Rockets took Brooks in the first round of the 2007 NBA Draft.
He had his best year in the NBA with Houston during the 2009-2010 season when he averaged 19.6 points and 5.3 assists.
The Rockets traded Brooks to the Phoenix Suns in 2011.
He signed as a free agent with the Kings on July 16, 2012.
This season with the Kings Brooks averaged 8 points and 2.3 assists, while playing about 20 minutes a game.
Players bought out by March 1 are eligible for postseason play after signing with another team.
Yahoo Sports first reported the Rockets interest in Brooks.
