
Houston business owner/philanthropist Jim 'Mattress Mack' McIngvale and his family are grieving the loss of his father who died on Wednesday.
George Critz McIngvale Sr. worked for many years in the finance department at his son's Gallery Furniture flagship store in north Houston. Friends and colleagues knew him best as 'Mr. Mack.'
A visitation and vigil service for 'Mr. Mack' is scheduled for Sunday, March 3 between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m., which will take place at Forest Park The Woodlands Funeral Home. A Rosary service will follow at 6 p.m. in the Chapel of Forest Park The Woodlands.
A burial Mass for George McIngvale Sr. will take place on Monday, March 4 at 1 p.m. in the Christ The Good Shepherd Catholic Church on 18511 Klein Church Road in Spring.
'Mr. Mack' served in the U.S. Army during World War II before developing into a successful businessman and philanthropist. Throughout his life, George Critz McIngvale Sr. remained a devout Catholic. He died at the age of 89 and is survived by his wife of 64 years, Angela, along with five children, 16 grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to Bishop Lynch High School in Dallas or Blessed Frasatti High School in Spring.
