Friday morning a 16 year old Caney Creek High School student was arrested after using his cell phone to phone a threat into the school.
After the threat was phoned in, the school did evacuate the students to the football field. However within the hour, investigators were able to trace that phone call back to the cell phone of the 16 year old student.
This is the statement released by Conroe ISD:
This morning multiple anonymous phone callsstating there was a bomb at Caney Creek High School were made to 911. ConroeISD Police, Montgomery County Sheriff's Department, and Caney Creek administratorsresponded immediately. The call was traced to a cell phone number belonging toa sixteen year old student who was taken into police custody. The studentadmitted to making the threat, which was a hoax, and will likely face a statejail felony charge. Though we had the suspect in custody and did not deem thecall credible, out of an abundance of caution, we evacuated the building.Students and staff remained outside until the building was cleared by policeand administrators. We always take the safety of our students and staffseriously, thus the need for the procedure.
