Paterson teacher accused of Facebook child sex request

A veteran teacher at a high school in Paterson, New Jersey is accused of offering to pay a male student $50 in exchange for sex via Facebook.

The Passaic County Prosecutor announced the arrest of Thomas Weir, 50, of Monticello, New York.

He has been a teacher at John F. Kennedy High School for approximately 21 years.

Weir arranged to meet the student at a local restaurant after contacting him through the instant messaging application on the social networking site, said Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes.

Weird was arrested in the restaurant parking lot.

He faces several charges including the most serious, attempted sexual assault which has a maximum term of ten years in prison.
