Queens apartment fire claims a life

At least one person was killed in an apartment fire in Jamaica Estates, Queens. At least one person was killed in an apartment fire in Jamaica Estates, Queens.

The FDNY says a man died died in an early-morning apartment fire in Queens.

Three other people were hurt in the Jamaica Estates fire including a firefighter who suffered a minor injury.

The fire was reported shortly after 5 a.m. Tuesday in a second-floor apartment and was under control approximately one hour later.

The Associated Press identified the man who died as Henry Schwan, 62.

The cause of the fire at 182-30 Wexford Terrace was not clear.
