Sunday morning Houston Astros owner Jim Crane was at his golf course, the Floridian in Palm City, Fla., playing golf with President Barack Obama, Tiger Woods and former Dallas Mayor Ron Kirk, who recently resigned his spot in the President's cabinet.
Sunday night Crane was at Toyota Center to take in the NBA All-Star game.
"We were down at the Floridian," Crane told FOX 26 Sports. "We got a request for the President to stay there. He came in Friday night.
"I got to play nine holes with him yesterday. Today we got to play 18 with he, Tiger Woods and Ron Kirk. We had a fun day.
As Crane pointed out, playing golf with the President and Tiger Woods, it does not get much better than that.
"It's unbelievable," Crane said. "One of the best players in the world, if not the best player in the world and the President.
"He's so gracious and so kind and he worked very hard to include everybody, very friendly. He loves the game and he's a good athlete. He hit a lot of great shots today.
Crane, who is a scratch golfer in his own right, was impressed with the President's game.
"He played pretty good," Crane said. "He made a bunch of pars. I don't think he made a birdie. He putts the ball well. He strikes it well.
"I think if he had a little time, he'd probably get pretty proficient at it.
Crane said the President is a regular American.
"He just likes to be one of the guys," Crane said. "Some of his closest friends were there.
"He wanted to relax, so we tried to keep everything away from him and let him have some down time. He enjoyed the walk. He said he loves to be outside, doesn't get to be outside that much and so I think he really enjoyed it. He's just one of the guys. He's fun to talk to. He'll joke around with you and give you a bad time if you hit a bad shot."
Crane said the President and Woods won the day.
"Ron Kirk and I played them," Crane said. "They did put it on us pretty good."
Crane said it means a great deal for his Floridian Golf Club to play host to the President of the United States.
"It's quite an honor," Crane said. "We never expected anything like that. It's a nice place to do something like that because there's not that many people there, and they could get his group in there and give him the security he needed.
"It's just an unbelievable honor to have him there. Hopefully he'll come back."
