The Galleria mall in Houston was shut down early on Saturday night because of huge crowds of people trying to chase celebrities in town for the All-Star Game.
A street response team was dispatched to The Galleria as a precaution because of the crowds, according to the Houston Police Department.
Greg Noble, general manager of The Galleria, says for the past several days, the mall, along with HPD and the Houston Fire Department has been monitoring mall traffic. The Galleria reached legal capacity at 8:15 p.m. on Saturday and entrances to the mall were officially closed by HPD and mall security.
Noble went on to say that the primary concern is for the safety and well being of not only shoppers but employees. The Galleria had planned to reopen Sunday at 11 a.m.
