ELLIJAY, Ga. -
Gilmer County Sheriff's deputies are searching for a person of interest in a triple shooting Sunday.
Sheriff Stacy Nicholson tells FOX 5 News they found two men shot inside a home on Simmons Drive near Roy Street in Ellijay around 11:30 a.m. after receiving a 911 call. Both men were transported to Atlanta Medical Center. One was in critical condition with a gunshot wound to the head and the other in serious condition.
A short time later, they received a call from the North Georgia Medical Center saying that a man had dropped off a woman with gunshot wounds. The woman said that James Stafford, who lives with her at the home where the shooting occurred, had dropped her off, left his car at the hospital, and took off on foot.
Sheriff Nicholson says an altercation lead to the shooting. They believe all four people in the house at the time of the shooting knew each other. They did not know what led up to the shooting.
They are not calling Stafford a suspect at this time, but do want to question him as to what happened.
The North Georgia Medical Center was on lockdown for most of the day as a result of the incident.
Sheriff Nicholson says anyone with further information should call the Gilmer County Sheriff's Office and anyone who spots Stafford should call 911.
