An investigation that began in May 2012 has led to the arrest of a Richmond-area resident in a child pornography case.
Michael Darby, 27, surrendered on Wednesday to the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office based on charges of possession of child pornography, a first degree felony offense.
FBCSO detectives learned child pornography was exchanged online by an unknown person and originated from a computer traced to the Richmond area.
Associate District Judge Pedro Ruiz signed a search warrant that allowed detectives to search Darby's home in the Pecan Grove subdivision. Detectives determined that Darby used a file sharing program to download child pornography.
Investigation into Darby's computer showed that he had downloaded almost 200 hundred images and two videos of child pornography.
Darby is in custody at the Fort Bend County Jail under a $40,000 bond. He was scheduled to appear before a magistrate on Thursday.
