Genesee County, Michigan -
Sandy Reynolds was on her way to work around 12:30pm on US-23 south of Flint when the wind began to blow.
She saw brake lights in front of her and began to slow down. "I was only going around 20 miles-per-hour, but it was still hard to stop. The road was very icy," says Reynolds who lives in Burton and works at the Ford Stamping plant in Dearborn.
"I took 23 because I heard about the big accident on I-75" she said. She was referring to the massive accident on I-75 in southwest Detroit that took three lives and injured more than a dozen other people. Thirty to forty vehicles were involved in the Detroit accident.
Reynolds says she was one of the first to arrive on the accident scene near Mundy Township.
Soon after, several emergency vehicles worked there way onto the scene. While Reynolds sat in her stopped car, an EMS worker told her more than 30-vehicles may be involved.
"During the worst part of the white out, I could not see past the hood of my car," said Reynolds.
While waiting for traffic to clear or an opportunity to leave, she texted some photos to her friend. Her friend forwarded them to Fox 2.
Southbound US-23 is closed near Thompson Road. Reynolds was moved off the scene, along with other drivers, who were allowed to head north onto US-23 and get off the freeway at Exit 90.
Fox 2 has crews on the scent and we will provide updates to this story as soon as possible.
