HOUSTON (FOX 26) -
Almost one week after an Amber Alert was issued for a 14-year-old girl last seen with a 33-year-old former neighbor, authorities report she is safe in Fla. and the man has been taken into custody.
The Amber Alert was issued Tuesday, Jan. 22, for Haylie White, 14, who was taken from her home by Jacob West, according to the Harris County Precinct 4 Constable's Office.
Although White was found in safe condition, West was charged on Jan. 23 with sexual assault of a child.
West, a Cypress resident, drove with White in a 2005 silver GMC Envoy, based on the Amber Alert.
The Texas Center for the Missing reported on Friday that West had friends living in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and often camped near the beaches of Corpus Christi.
