HALL COUNTY, Ga. -

The wintry mix Friday morning is responsible for several accident across north Georgia. The slick roads may be responsible for an accident on Interstate 985 near Gainesville in Hall County.

The driver, Ray Pressley, tells FOX 5's Aungelique Proctor the accident happened in an instant. He says he was driving northbound at a normal pace when he hit a patch of ice while crossing a bridge. He says he never saw it.

"All I know, I was just spinning around and around and hit that guardrail up there and I am just glad I didn't get hurt, you know. But my truck is totaled," said Pressley.

Pressley says he credits his seatbelt with saving his life, and had advice for those behind the wheel: be careful.

"On these blacktop streets like this, you can't see ice lots of times. It's called black ice because you can't see it," Pressley said.

After the accident, Georgia Department of Transportation crews moved in and started laying down ice while the interstate was reduced to one lane. Authorities say they worked between 20 and 25 weather-related accidents, including a deputy's patrol car that hit black ice.

They are asking all drivers to slow down until the danger has passed.

No injuries were reported in connection with the accidents.
