HOUSTON (FOX 26) -

Parents of students at Willowridge High School have learned that a student brought a loaded gun to campus on Wednesday.

Lee Crews, Principal at Willowridge High School, released the following statement on Wednesday on the campus website:

As part of our continuing effort to keep you informed, we want to make you aware of an incident that happened at school today at approximately 1:50 p.m. As a result of a tip, one of our sophomore male students was found in possession of a loaded handgun without incident. The student is in custody, and this matter is under investigation by the Fort Bend ISD Police. The District takes this matter very seriously, and at this time we have no reason to believe the student intended to harm anyone.

We will continue to ask our students and staff members to report anything or anyone making them feel unsafe or uncomfortable.

The safety of our students is our top priority. If you have any questions, please call the school at (281)634-2450.
