Leader of human smuggling ring gets nearly 13 years in prison

The leader of a human smuggling ring stretching from South Texas to Houston will spend nearly 13 years behind bars.

A judge in McAllen sentenced Jose Aguirre-Nunez on Wednesday.

In 2005, border patrol agents found more than two dozen immigrants at a stash house in South Texas.

In 2007, the 46-year-old pleaded guilty to conspiring to transport illegal immigrants and commit money laundering.
