HOUSTON (FOX 26) -
Two Montgomery County children found living inside a school bus are now back with their parents for good.
Tuesday, Mark and Sherrie Shorten regained full custody after proving the bus in Splendora is livable. In 2012, the family's two children, ages 12 and 5, were found living inside.
Investigators say, sometimes, the kids were left unattended for 12 hours a day.
The couple was in jail when the children were placed in foster care.
"It feels good," Sherrie said. "They've been with us since Sept. 28. This just one these things we've gotten resolved and fixed. We're ready to put our family back together and keep moving forward."
According to the parents, the bus now has running water and electricity.
