The state Department has confirmed that one of the Americans killed in Algeria is from Nederland, but had recently moved to Houston.
Details about how 57 year old Victor Lovelady died are unclear, but his family says what is clear is what a great man he was.
" I played softball my whole life and he was always there - every game, every tournament and I looked for him and all the way through college he was there and he's just ... I mean there are so many memories it's hard to pick a certain memory. Just, so many but I- I'm daddy's little girl." said Erin Lovelady.
She says he had recently moved to Houston to be closer to his job, but he had waited until the kids were off to college to do so. "He was really wonderful, a wonderful dad."
She says the family had questions about safety, but like a good father he tried to put their minds at ease. "He told us all the time we asked him all the time 'do you feel safe? Do you feel safe going cause if you don't feel safe you don't have to go.'
And he goes 'oh I feel so safe - nothing's happened there in so long and my friends have been doing it for so long it's fine here and so safe we have protection."
Lovelady was supposed to be in Algeria just 28 days. He was there just ten days when the militants attacked.
The family will hold a news conference Tuesday morning.
