High risk sex offender eludes custody, threatens to rape again

Posted: Updated:
HOUSTON (FOX 26) -

The hunt is on for a high risk sex offender who escaped from a Houston half way house.  John Michael Enard has said if he was ever free again he would rape again.

Enard is now on the Department of Public Safety's list of the Ten most wanted sex offenders.

Enard escaped from a Southeast Houston halfway house on Saturday morning.  The agency said Enard managed to remove his GPS tracking device, then climbed over a fence at the halfway house.

He had been in prison since 1986 for aggravated kidnapping and aggravated sexual assault.

Enard was given parole last month and sent to a halfway house.  Scars on his face and forehead may help you identify him.

If you see him, you are asked to call 911 immediately.  If your tip leads to his capture you could be eligible for a $3,000 dollar reward.

Enard has family in Houston but he could also be headed to Lafayette, Louisiana where other family members live.
