HOUSTON (FOX 26) -
A police saw a house fire and alerted the fire department. It turns out people were burning plastic sheets in a fireplace. They were also allegedly growing marijuana in the house.
Brazoria County Sheriff's deputies took over the case. They seized roughly 200 young marijuana plants, as well as grow lights, air purifiers, a cash-counting machine and a gun.
They arrested the two people who were in the house. They say the house was not quite ready to go yet.
"They were in the process of setting up," said Lt. Russ Baker.
Neighbors say the alleged growers had just moved in a few weeks ago.
"It's a big concern. You want to live in a nice neighborhood so it's kind of scary," said neighbor Steve Spedding.
