WWE Diva Kaitlyn wins title in front of hometown Houston crowd

Posted: Updated:

After several matches over a series of months with the formidable WWE Divas Champion Eve Torres, Houston resident and WWE Diva Kaitlyn finally defeated her rival with plenty of fan support at Toyota Center.

The match took place during a live broadcast of "WWE Monday Night RAW," which airs weekly on USA Network.

Some of the action spilled out of the ring and onto the Toyota Center floor, but when both Divas returned to the ring, Kaitlyn spear-tackled Eve for the pin and the win.

Kaitlyn, who wore a 'Don't Mess with Texas' vest, celebrated in the ring after the match, sharing her moment with the adoring fans in attendance.

Following the match, Torres, who announced her engagement on Twitter in September 2012, declared she was resigning from the WWE.

The 20th anniversary edition of the live show also featured notable appearances by WWE veterans Ric Flair and Mick Foley, who learned he will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in March.

Dwayne Johnson, better known to WWE fans as The Rock, also appeared at the event and performed some acoustic songs to end the show before confronting WWE Champion C.M. Punk, who he will face in a title match at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view event on Sunday, Jan. 27.
