HOUSTON (FOX 26) -
The Houston Humane Society is starting 2013 with a big boost.
Natural Paws, a local pet store chain, donated 10,000 pounds of pet food to the humane society.
"It's so important because we're a private non-profit, so we exist solely on donations and special events so something like this, we spend tens of thousands of dollars feeding our animals each year. Ten-thousand pounds is going to go a long way to help us feed those animals."
Since November, Natural Paws has collected more than 100,000 pounds of pet food from vendors to distribute to shelters and rescue groups in the Houston area.
