A Bellaire businessman accused of sexually assaulting a teenage girl will be released from jail.
Rick Melartin, who called himself "The Finnisher" in TV commercials for his car dealership, will be freed on $100,000 bond.
Investigators say Melartin and his assistant, George Koutani, assaulted a 16-year-old at Melartin's car dealership in Crosby in 2012.
Melartin has been in jail since a judge revoked his bond earlier in the week. His attorney says that was a misunderstanding, but the victim's mother is unhappy about his release.
"When the judge set the bond last Thursday, somebody was supposed to take him certain paperwork to sign, and give him a copy of that," Melartin's attorney said. "No one did that so when he was released from jail, he didn't have any instructions."
"It's been hard," the girl's mom said. "It was hard to see him come out, but I'm confident we will get justice. I'm confident in that."
The judge ordered Melartin to wear a GPS-monitoring device and hand over his passport and weapons. He must also abide by a curfew and have no contact with the victim.
