With the University of Houston defense ranked as one of the worst in the Football Bowl Subdivision this past season, head coach Tony Levine made two changes on his staff on Thursday.
Defensive coordinator Jamie Bryant and defensive ends coach Carlton Hall will not return to the Cougars in 2013.
The school confirmed the moves.
In 2012 the UH defense ranked 115 out of 120 FBS schools, giving up an average of 483 yards per game.
In 2011 the Cougars defense was ranked 62, giving up 100 fewer yards per game.
No replacements have been named.
Meanwhile, college football sources told FOX 26 Sports the Cougars will hire Glen Elarbee from Middle Tennessee State as UH's offensive line coach, replacing Lee Hays who went to Texas Tech.
