HOUSTON (FOX 26) -
A Spring man accused of pretending to be an attorney to steal millions of dollars is still behind bars.
A judge denied Anthony Chiofalo bond, saying he's a flight risk.
Chiofalo turned himself in at a Rhode Island Police station weeks ago. He'd been on the run for seven months.
"The defendant was previously licensed by the state of New York as an attorney, subsequently disbarred, moved here to Houston and created this fake law firm charging the Tadano company for domestic legal representation to the tune of $9.3 million."
"He's ready to take full responsibility and confront the potential consequences," Chiofalo's defense attorney said. "He's also wants to cooperate and help them recover anything that's missing."
Chifaolo's wife, Susan, is also charged with theft but is out on bond.
