MONTICELLO, Ga. -

A Monticello family is getting their wishes granted after enduring a life-threatening crisis. The parents of 4-year-old Dahlia Minton, Jeff and Stephanie, didn't think their daughter would have much of a life just a year ago.

"It's something you don't ever expect to hear. You know your kids get sick, you give them medicine, you take care of them, they get better, they go to the doctor, but it was devastating," said Dahlia's mother, Stephanie Minton.

At age 2, Dahlia was diagnosed with Stage Four Neuroblastoma. It's a type of childhood cancer, and according to doctors, every area of her body was infected. The Mintons say all they could do was pray.

"We've had people emailing each other, praying for her. We've had people praying for her, probably hundreds. We've had people we don't even know coming up and saying 'we've been praying for your daughter," said Stephanie.

But while everyone was praying, Dahlia was playing.

"She'd be getting her chemo and I'd be having to chase behind her with the IV pole, because she'd be on her little tricycle running the halls," said Dahlia's father Jeff Minton.

Dahlia's fragile body went through 10 rounds of chemotherapy, two stem cell transplants and surgery to remove the main tumor. She was given a less than a 30 percent chance of survival. But she did, and now through the Make-A-Wish Foundation, she'll get to live out her dream of going to Disney World.

"Her chances of survival were so slim. We know that those prayers have been answered. She is just a miracle, a miracle walking," said Stephanie.

The Mintons leave for Disney World on Friday, just in time for Dahlia's birthday. For more information on the Make-A-Wish Foundation, click here.
