Mix holiday tradition with holiday spirit and for one Hall County family, you have a very bright outlook on the Christmas season... or at very least a bright front yard.
It started for Travis Germick with just a few twinkling light strings, but the collection of Christmas spangle on Peach Mountain Circle has grown considerably over the past decade.
Germick is an insulation contractor, so while some of the decorations are store bought others are created just for their annual display. This is how their Frosty the Snowman came to be using leftover insulation foam.
And it is not Christmas for the Germick family without the glowing candy canes, giant sled, and icicles hanging along the roofline not mention the thousands of lights. The family believes there are about 12,000 lights, but they plan to one day have as many as a hundred thousand.
The display took about four days to put in place and the effort is shared by Travis' two sons.
The yearly labor of love has earned Travis Germick the nickname of Mr. Griswold after Chevy Chase's character in the National Lampoon's "Christmas Vacation" movie.
