Houston Rockets coach Kevin McHale, who has been on leave of absence since Nov. 10, is with the team for its pre-game shoot around tonight at Toyota Center.
NBA sources with knowledge of McHale's thinking told FOX 26 Sports he is expected to return as the Rockets coach tonight against the Dallas Mavericks.
Sources told FOX 26 Sports earlier on Saturday that McHale could return to the Rockets bench as early as tonight.
The Rockets announced on Nov. 10 McHale was taking a leave of absence because of a family matter.
His daughter, Alexandra "Sasha" McHale, passed away on Nov. 24 at the age of 23.
She had been hospitalized because of lupus.
McHale has missed 13 games.
Assistant coach Kelvin Sampson has been the Rockets acting coach while McHale has been with his family.
