HOUSTON (FOX 26) -
We've learned more about an off-duty Harris County Sheriff's deputy put on leave after shooting and killing a suspected shoplifter.
It happened Thursday night at a Walmart in North Houston.
HCSO says 26-year veteran officer Louis Campbell tried to stop the woman, but she and two other women drove off. Campbell fired his gun when he felt the women were trying to run him over.
Shelley Frey was hit. She died at an apartment complex a few miles away.
Campbell was working off duty as a security guard at the store at the time of the shooting.
