"I'm known as ‘Grandma Santa'," said Judy Lallo.
Lallo got that nickname because her Spring-area home is where family gathers for Christmas.
Lallo loves Christmas decorations but her husband Joe isn't going to climb up on the roof to hang Christmas lights.
"He decided upon his retirement that wasn't one of his jobs," Lallo said.
So for the last two years, "Grandma Santa" paid Texas Outdoor Designs to hang her Christmas lights.
"The install, the takedown went wonderfully," Lallo said. "They were on time and everything went well."
Lallo said she was surprised when the company contacted her back in March, wanting a deposit to install the lights this Christmas.
During that March conversation, Lallo said she had questions but no one with the company called her back.
Still on Oct. 4, she said she wrote the company a check for $187. That checked was cashed, but Lallo said she's got nothing to show for it.
"No response at all," Lallo said. "Several calls, had friends calling with their names and no response."
The Better Business Bureau gives Texas Outdoor Designs an "F" rating.
"A lot of that is due to the underlying pattern of complaints they have and their failure to respond to those complaints," said Monica Russo with the BBB.
Russo urges consumers to check out businesses on their website before handing over any money.
"A lot of consumers that are complaining this year if they had gone on to our website and taken a look at this company's report, they would have seen that they had an ‘F' rating and they would have seen why," Russo said.
When we went to the company's address looking for answers, all we found was a UPS Store and a mail box drop.
A man named Jason Alexander with Texas Outdoor Designs did return our call. He told us Lallo should have paid back in March to lock in an installation date.
Alexander said a refund check is now on its way to Lallo who is still having trouble finding a company to install her lights.
"Very disappointed. I just feel when you expect a job to be done and you trust in people especially since they had given us good service now to prove otherwise just kind of burns the holiday a little bit," Lallo said.
Alexander said the reason the BBB gives his company an "F" is because they won't buy a BBB membership.
Alexander admits 16 customers have filed BBB complaints but that's a small number since he said the company has thousands of customers.
