For many Conroe residents, December began with reports of thefts, but police have taken a suspect into custody in relation to those crimes.
Conroe police were contacted about the burglaries of vehicles and buildings in the Highland Hollow and West Fork subdivisions on Friday, Nov. 30.
When officers began to investigate the burglaries, someone began to use the credit cards stolen in the thefts and tried to sell the stolen items.
Patrol officers and the Criminal Investigations Division worked together to identify David Ryan Campbell as a suspect in the theft incidents.
Police recovered computers, guns, jewelry, checks and credit cards at the apartment unit where Campbell lived. They later found Campbell, 20, hiding at another location and detained him.
After police questioned Campbell, they arrested him and booked him into the Montgomery County jail.
Campbell was charged with burglary of a structure and theft of a firearm, both of which are felonies. He was also charged with possession of marijuana, a misdemeanor. Additional charges against Campbell are pending.
