Houston Texans defensive end Antonio Smith can claim a semi-victory in the appeal of his $21,000 fine stemming from an incident with Miami Dolphins guard Richie Incognito on Sept. 9.
The NFL reduced Smith's fine to $11,000.
"It always feels good to get back some Christmas present money and some college fund money," Smith said. "So I'm happy about that.
"It's still bittersweet, because I felt like he should have at least got fined something."
Smith admitted he did not expect to get his fine reduced.
"Very surprised," Smith said. "I must be getting on their good side."
