An internationally-known holiday display guru is now lighting up northwest Houston.
Richard Holdman was hired to wrap a local car dealership with 70,000 bulbs, all pulsating to a festive tune. The finished display went live on Wednesday night.
Holdman is from Salt Lake City, Utah, where his holiday-lighting career began as a hobby. Every year, he would light up his house and put video of the display on YouTube.
One of those clips has now been viewed almost 22 million times.
"You put it out there, you see what happens," Holdman told FOX 26 News. "A lot of videos go viral and a lot of people are surprised. And I've been very surprised at how successful it's been."
The viral video is just about the best marketing he could have asked for. And when Holdman was laid off from his job two years ago, he decided to do lighting displays full time.
You can see his handiwork every night at Northwest Dodge on Hwy 290 near FM 1960.
And we'd like to see your handiwork, so please email us pictures and videos of your holiday lighting displays. You can send them to mynews@fox26.com and we will post them here on MyFOXHouston.com. The very best ones may even show up on our newscasts!
