A second man has been convicted and sentenced in the case of an 11-year-old girl who was gang raped inside a mobile home in the Texas town of Cleveland in 2010, the Liberty County District Attorney's Office has confirmed.
A Liberty County jury found Jared Len Cruse guilty of aggravated sexual assault of a child acting in concert. After he was convicted, the jury only needed 10 minutes to determine his punishment -- life imprisonment.
The jury began deliberating on Wednesday in the trial of Cruse, the second of twenty male defendants to be tried for assaulting the girl.
The first man who was tried in the gang rape, Eric McGowen, was also convicted. He is serving a 99-year prison sentence.
Seven juveniles are on probation for the assaults and six adults were sentenced to 15 years in prison after pleading guilty.
