911 calls of massive Thanksgiving Day pileup released

HOUSTON (FOX 26) -

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office has released the 911 calls from frantic drivers involved in that 150-plus pileup on I-10 on Thanksgiving Day morning.

Caller 4: They have a major accident over ( ) Lake. Cars, 18 wheelers, and everything.  I don't know where we are.  The fog is thick.  Everything is … everybody is just piling up.

Operator: Okay, we got many units en route, okay.  We got ambulances and …

Caller 4: Oh my god. Oh my god.

Operator: Okay, stay in your car.  Stay your car.

Caller 4: Oh no, I'm in the field right now.  People are just … everything, everywhere."

Caller 5: Please get on I-10.

Operator: Maam, we got them coming, okay?

Caller 5: They're still hitting.

Operator: Yes maam.  We got them coming.

Caller 5: Oh, the … (crying)

Operator: Maam, maam, they're en route, okay?

Caller 5: Okay.

A couple from Pearland died in the pileup.

The Department of Public Safety blames the accident on foggy conditions.
