A woman was removed from a burning southeast Houston home by firefighters but later died.
Firefighters arrived around 11:30 p.m. Monday to the one-story home on Sherwood Drive near Porter Street and made a fast attack on the fire; they had to exit from the house multiple times because of the large amount of clutter inside the home.
After searching through the home, firefighters found a woman, described as elderly, inside a bathroom.
Firefighters had to cut a large hole into a window to remove her from the home.
The woman was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital - Texas Medical Center where she later died.
Arson investigators are trying to determine what caused the fire.
