SOUTH HOUSTON, Texas -
Volunteers spent an afternoon grilling chicken and chopping sausage links that was sold by the plate to assist the family of Oscar Gonzalez.
A barbecue benefit took place on Saturday to help bury a man killed by a hit-and-run driver.
The 61-year-old man was struck and killed a week earlier along Spencer Highway in the city of South Houston. Police say the motorist sped away in a maroon or red Ford Contour.
"I just really want them to come forward," said Elvia Gonzalez, the victim's sister, in an interview with FOX 26 News. "I want closure, is what I really want."
Anybody with information is asked to contact the South Houston Police Department.
