Kevin McHale continues his leave of absence from Rocketball while dealing with a daughter's illness in Minnesota.
Active head coach Kelvin Sampson said during Wednesday's pre-game media availability he had contacted McHale earlier in the day.
"Talked with him this morning for a while," Sampson said. "Not a lot of new news on that front. Some progress being made though and that's a good thing."
McHale has now missed six consecutive games and there remains no timetable for his return.
"He's beginning to want to talk more and more about the team," Sampson said. "He's watching the games mostly on a computer in the hospital. He and his family have not been home. They have a hotel room and bounce back and forth between the hospital and the hotel."
Sampson believes McHale is holding up as best can be expected.
"Kevin is a pretty strong guy," Sampson said. "And he has his entire family there. There's a lot of strength to be gained from being with your family and everyone being together so I know he's feels good about that."
