For most of us, very few shuttle bus trips manage to stick in the memory.
Turns out, what those forgettable runs lack is a Terry Owens behind the wheel
"I've got a little tune for you as I take you to the airport. Hope you enjoy it," Owens said to passengers before belting out his own version of "Twisting the Night Away".
For the past five years, Terry has been filling the few miles between the Enterprise lot and Hobby Terminal with live entertainment and he's the sole source.
The reviews have been nearly unanimous.
"That was awesome. He shouldn't be driving a transfer," passenger Kim Falco said.
"The reason I sing is because I love it. I feel it was a gift that was given to me and so I try and spread it around," said Owens.
It's a voice honed on New Orleans' Bourbon Street and now shared with those arriving to or departing from Owens' adopted city.
"They to come to Houston and say my singing made their trip. That's amazing," Owens said.
His are soulful melodies, delivered with the blessing of his bosses who know value-added customer service when they hear it.
"It's good stuff man. He's always been a great guy, always sings for us, so it's a lot of fun," said Bryan, a passenger from Fort Worth who calls himself a repeat customer.
Roy Orphey from Las Vegas called his serenade a happy first.
"You don't get that kind of treat every day. This was really special," Orphey said.
Of course, Terry dreams of bigger and better but for now, the pay back of applause and the occasional hug is pretty good.
"It makes me happy. It makes other folks happy. When I see other folks smile, I'm smiling," said Owens who has a single available on iTunes.
