We're learning more about a 61-year-old killed by a hit-and-run driver in the City of South Houston.
Oscar Gonzalez was just feet away from meeting up with friends when he was hit off Spencer Highway and 8th Street.
"It's very hard. It's very upsetting," Elvia Nava said.
Nava, Oscar's sister, wiped away tears as she pointed out the police markings on the pavement.
"That circle is where he was at. He turned to look over, somebody was coming really fast and hit him," she said.
Oscar took his last steps inside the cross walk. Witnesses said he was thrown at least 30 feet from the impact. He was airlifted to a nearby hospital.
Jose Gonzalez, Oscar's brother, remembered the phone call.
"She said he got hit. It's real bad. You need to come right away and go to the hospital," Jose said.
Saturday night, the family learned Oscar had died.
South Houston Police investigators said the hit-and-run driver may have been a young teenager in a red, possibly maroon, sedan. It is still not known if Oscar had the right of way.
Police are hoping more will come to light from other witnesses and security footage from a nearby business.
The family is begging for answers.
"Somebody come forward. I know there was more than just one person in that car."
