Black smoke billowed into the air in north Houston after the remnants of several vehicles caught fire at a salvage yard in north Houston.
The Harris County Hazardous Materials Response Team and Little York Volunteer Fire Department arrived on Monday morning to the Tex-Mex The Truck Store on Airline Drive near West Hambrick Road in response to a fire at the facility.
The plume of smoke wafted toward the Spring area, but the Little York Volunteer Fire Department confirmed in a statement released Monday that no homes were threatened by the smoke and fire and no evacuations or shelter-in-place orders were executed.
The fire did cause some traffic trouble nearby on the North Freeway near Beltway 8.
