The Unabashed Blogorrhea shaking and stirring while serving up pugnacious NFL and BMOC picks each and every week. Entertainment purposes only. Money back not guaranteed.
As in years past, the rules each week: fearlessly (or not) forecasting the Texans and the Cowboys always plus four other games from the weekly professional slate which supposedly allegedly offer particularly promising prospects.
And some assorted BCS selections when warranted which strike a particular fancy. No need to remind - for entertainment purposes. Only.
To the picks ...
JAGUARS (+16) vs. TEXANS. Under no conceivable circumstance is Jax a threat. Zero. Zilch. Zippity Doo Dah. So the number is the only question. Largest spread of the season. Jags present decent defensive resistance and as little offensive punch an officially sanctioned NFL outfit can offer. To what degree does Kubiak push the effort and the playbook and therefore the margin when teeing up on Turkey Day in Detroit just four days later. How many carries for Arian and reps for guys like Daniels if scoreboard is under control. Scobee is reasonably reliable kicker in clean conditions. Expecting a no thrills business as usual 23-9 sort of result to raise the record to 9-1. Taking the points.
BROWNS (+8) at COWBOYS. Crunch and clutch time for Romo and the Psychos. Not exactly their collective strength. Three straight in JerryWorld and five of the next six. And five wins is likely mandatory to join the playoff party. And not out of the question. Cleveland, Redskins on Thanksgiving, Philly, at Cincy, Pittsburgh and the Saints. Of course Dallas is hugely mediocre playing just to the west of Dallas so the friendly confines often less than friendly. Browns in out of the open week, have played reasonably tough through another subterranean season, the collective playing/coaching for lives in wake of ownership change. Dawson’s foot bring some extra thunder in what is likely his last rodeo in front of hometown family and friends. Taking the points.
STEELERS (+3.5) vs. RAVENS. Backed into corner without Ben, with Byron. Home turf in ruthless relentless rivalry. Bahlmer not the most road tested. Taking the points.
BUCCANEERS (-1.5) at PANTHERS. Don’t look now but Tampa tapping to playoff contention.
PATRIOTS (-9) vs. COLTS. Indy returns to its natural orbit.
PACKERS (-3.5) at LIONS. Stretch drive starts right now.
BAYLOR (+11.5) vs. KANSAS ST. Pressure picks up considerably when the Big BCS Enchilada is in sight. Briles Brunch can score. Night lights may bring wicked crowd. Well, wicked for Waco. Wildcats win. Taking the points.
MIZZOU (-4.5) vs. SYRACUSE. Franklin’s second half in crazy turnaround at Tennessee was the quarterbacking Franklin of old. Orange turn sour on the road. Tigers cash the bowl clincher and pack some mojo for Aggieland.
USC (-3) vs. UCLA. Private school guys won the last helmet-to-helmet by 50. Public school guys are more than a bit better. So figure private school guys can cover 12 months later by five.
WISCONSIN (-2) vs. OHIO ST. Buckeyes say bye bye to unbeaten.
AIR FORCE (-21) vs. HAWAII. A fly-by for one-time Texans assistant Calhoun. Rainbows horrifically paputrid (pathetic x putrid) ATS.
