HOUSTON (FOX 26) -
There was damaging testimony in the punishment phase of the Jessica Tata trial.
A mother of a baby who died in that fatal home daycare fire cried as she told the jury how her little boy grabbed her hand as he was dying in the hospital.
Two seven-year-old girls who once went to Tata's daycare took the stand. One of them said Tata once took the older children on a shopping trip while leaving the babies sleeping in cribs. Another seven-year-old said Tata would sometimes leave her in the home to take care of the babies.
Tata has been convicted of murder for the fire that killed four children. The punishment phase of the trial is expected to last through next week.
