Brazoria County issues burn ban

Posted: Updated:

Our lack of rain has Emergency management offices taking action.

Brazoria County Emergency Management office has issued a burn ban for Brazoria County starting Friday, November 16th.

The order means that outdoor burning is prohibited for the next 90 days.  The order is in effect for all unincorporated areas of Brazoria County.

According to FOX26 Meteorologist John Dawson we started off the year very wet.  "We had significant rainfall in the area in January and February but we haven't really had much since then."

Officially we are only 4 inches behind in rainfall in Houston.  But, while that doesn't sound like a lot most of that rain fell along time ago and those measurements are taken at the official National Weather service location at Bush Airport.
