HOUSTON (FOX 26) -
Tis the season of giving, but the Better Business Bureau is warning donors to watch out.
The BBB says there are more charity scams popping up as the holiday season approaches.
Thankfully, BBB researchers perform in-depth reviews of charities to separate the real from the fake.
"Our 20 standards for charity accountability provide a very comprehensive review of non-profits, so can rest assure that you are giving to a non-profit that's legitimate."
So what else can you do? The BBB says be wary of excessive pressure to donate on the spot, and be cautious of claims that 100 percent of donations will go to the charity.
