Hall of Fame pitcher Nolan Ryan helped put the tiny town of Alvin on the map with his blazing fastball. Now, Alvin could be known for a different kind of speed.
Kaytlynn and Heather Welsch are getting worldwide attention for their ability to compete at a very young age in endurance races of all kinds. The 12-year-old and 10-year-old have successfully competed in marathons, half-marathons, trail runs and triathlons. They have dozens of medals to prove it.
The New York Times has already run a feature on them. The Today Show, Good Morning America and folks in England, Spain and Germany have called about the kids.
The Welsch sisters hope to someday run for the US at the Olympic Games.
