HOUSTON (FOX 26) -
The Texas Medical Center recognized nearly 600 military veterans hired in 2012.
The hiring effort is part of the "Red, White and You" hiring initiative.
Leaders in the Texas Medical Center acknowledged veterans' military service, their service to nearby universities, hospitals, and other health care institutions.
They are also encouraging more veterans to apply.
"The recruiters that are in these departments is to have them step up and reach out to veterans and let them know this is what you need to do. I'm here to help you," UT Health Science Center's Brian Wilson said.
Reliant Center will be holding a job fair for veterans on Nov. 15.
