She was dragged behind an SUV and wasn't expected to survive.

Now, Suzy Q, the donkey, is much better.

We visited the family this afternoon.  We're told a veterinarian has given Suzy Q a follow-up exam and says she is healing and expected to recover in several months.

The donkey's hooves were ground nearly off in the incident, so the family keeps her feet wrapped in diapers and gauze.  She may have to wear special cushioned boots.

Mark Saunders, 30, is charged with felony animal cruelty for allegedly dragging the donkey.
