A Cherokee County student has finished high school at the age of 14! Melissa Robinson is making history as the youngest graduate at Cherokee County High.
Robinson is constantly in on the go. She began her high school coursework at the age of 10.
Daphe McQuarter, Robinson's mom, said that she took extra honors courses for three years.
"She went straight through this summer taking AP Calculus, statistics -- things like that. She did it for three years and here we are today and it paid off," said McQuarter.
Thursday was Robinson's last day of classes -- the same day of the school's annual academic award ceremony.
"It was really sad actually. I thought it would be fun, but I'm leaving all my friends and everything. It is a very emotional time," said Robinson.
The senior, who by this age should be a freshman, is earning a jump start on life.
"She's a hard-working kid. She has done everything possible to accelerate herself and here we are -- 14, graduate," said Debra Murdock, principal at Cherokee County High.
Robinson said that she doesn't feel like she's missing anything by graduating so early.
"Because I've already experienced things, early," she said.
Melissa, who has a 4.25 grade point average, now looks toward college and plans to study music and entertainment law.
"She is going to light the world on fire. There is no telling where she'll end up," said Murdock.
Melissa's mother says she wants her to have fun, enjoy her teenage years and says that is happening. Melissa will graduate with her senior class this coming May.
